Paediatric nurses and neonatal nurses and midwives provide contemporary child and family integrated care to neonates, children, young people and their families/carers.
Paediatric nurses and neonatal nurses and midwives use specialised theoretical knowledge and clinical skills to support their clinical judgement and clinical decision-making as key members of the paediatric and neonatal multidisciplinary team.
NSW Health Neonatal Nursing & Midwifery Education and Training Framework
Neonatal nurses and midwives provide evidence-based, family integrated practice to assess, plan, provide and implement care to neonate’s and their families and/or carers within intensive care and high dependency environments i.e. Special Care Units.
Developed in partnership with the Nursing and Midwifery Office, the Agency for Clinical Innovation and expert neonatal nurses and midwives, the Framework is intended to be used to identify the values, behaviours and skills required for the nursing and midwifery workforce to deliver safe neonatal care in Neonatal Intensive Care Units and Special Care Units across NSW Health. The framework promotes a consistent, state-wide, multidisciplinary approach to neonatal education and training for the NSW Health workforce.
The Neonatal Nursing & Midwifery Education and Training Framework will be available in June 2024
Paediatric and Neonatal Nursing Learning Navigator
The Paediatric and Neonatal Nursing Learning Navigator provides nurses and midwives with professional development opportunities for their current and future career needs. The Navigator Tool offers easy navigation and access to clusters of learning.
Learners can select from five topic areas. Each topic has clusters of e-learning modules to select from within My Health Learning. External provider resources have also been included to support your foundational and continuing professional development needs.
